Ira Losco – Malta’s Biggest Musical Talent

Ever since she tore up the Eurovision stage back in 2002 with her hit song “Seventh Wonder”, Ira Losco’s star has continued to rise. She may have finished as runner-up, but she’ll forever remain a winner in the hearts of the Maltese. Here are a few facts about Malta’s biggest name on the local music scene, brought to you by Hugo Chetcuti and team.

1. She’s passionate about social justice

From supporting anti-bullying initiatives to campaigns for the protection of teenagers online, Ira has shown herself to be highly invested in improving society for people from all walks of life. She is also a notable championer of LGBTI rights, even organising an LGBT party in Stockholm during her second outing as Eurovision song contestant for Malta in 2016.

2. Her list of accomplishments is impressive

Not only has she represented Malta on an international stage twice in the past – to date, Ira has won over 20 music awards and performed in over 20 countries. She has also performed with the likes of Ronan Keating, Sir Elton John, Gigi D’Alessio and Maroon 5.

3. She’s formed part of an alternative band

She started gaining traction as the lead singer of alternative band Tiara, which split because some of its members weren’t able to dedicate enough time to it.

4. Her latest album is her first in over 5 years

Ira’s latest venture appears in the form of a double album, entitled “No Sinner, No Saint”. The singer has described it as manifestation of life, saying that she’s neither holy nor a sinner, adding that she’s a little of both in different situations in her life. The album features 11 tracks and one bonus song at the end.
