Top Clubbing Destinations: Hugo Chetcuti’s Team Pick

If you haven’t been living under a rock since the mid ‘90s, it would come as no surprise that Ibiza has been the long-standing dance music party destination. However, many other places have since somewhat caught up and Hugo Chetcuti’s staff share their pick of some of the top – because having a plan B, C and D never hurt anyone.

1. Ibiza

The unrivalled (as of now) party destination is home to a multitude of towns where party-goers flock to. Playa d’en Bossa boasts the island’s longest beach as well as a pulsating nightlife and fantastic daytime beach parties. Ibiza Town, on the East coast is where most of the island’s iconic clubs are situated. However, with mega-clubs like Pacha charging extortionate entry fees, people just looking for a place to get their dance moves on may be put off. Located on the west coast, party hotspot San Antonio has been described by Time Out magazine as ‘arguably the clubbing capital of the universe.’

Either way, be prepared to dance the night away with famous DJs and watch the sun rise over the sea in the early-morning hours… until the matinée parties begin!

2. Berlin

Other than being a cultural, hip capital, Berlin is also famous for its abundance of clubs, especially in the underground scene. The coolest clubs are the trickiest to get into; notoriously Berghain – the capital of techno since 2004. However, Puschkinallee houses plenty of great clubs, with some, like the popular Watergate, being located right on the riverbank.

3. Amsterdam

Any city which has its own mayor specifically for governing nocturnal activities is going to know what to do with a speaker and four walls. DJs keep the city dancing with everything from techno to hip-hop and funk, from abandoned warehouses to intimate, chic venues.

4. Tel Aviv

With high-end rooftop bars to open-air courtyards, Tel Aviv is fast becoming the new ‘city that never sleeps’ with a clubbing mentality and hedonistic vibe that rivals many legendary European and U.S cities. Many great evenings here start at around sunset at a beach bar, followed by a few drinks at a local pub or wine bar, and finished off at one of the city’s clubs at Rothschild Boulevard.

5. Budapest

The Hungarian capital is one of Europe’s hottest party destinations right now. Its beautiful Danube river and cheap prices attract thousands of party-goers and top international DJs in summer. From partying at unassuming ‘ruin’ bars in derelict buildings to steamy open-air raves in geothermal springs at one of the city’s baths, Budapest takes partying to another level.

You will be hard-pressed to find someone who has never been to one of business mogul Hugo Chetcuti’s establishments in Paceville – Malta’s nightlife artery. Located directly opposite St. George’s Bay, Hugo’s Terrace is famed for its vibrancy, mouth-watering cocktails and stylish décor, attracting a chic and trendy crowd.
