Ray Horton: Europe’s Most Romantic Singer

There’s only one thing that we at Hugo’s Terrace love more than good cocktails and delicious food – and that’s live music. That’s why we strive to bring you some of the top talents around the world for memorable and entertaining performances. This month, we’ll be welcoming Ray Horton to our sunny little island. Here’s a bit of info about this gifted singer-songwriter, brought to you by Hugo Chetcuti and team.

Early Life

Horton’s career in music has its roots in early childhood, when he began singing in a local church choir in Tacoma, Washington. Although he spent quite a number of years living in the USA whilst growing up, he was born in the German city of Heidelberg. He sooned gained attention from his teachers during his time spent with the choir, and it wasn’t long before he was made a soloist. This early success spurred Horton to pursue a future career in music.

The Milli Vannilli Years

Mega producer Frank Farian invited Ray Horton to his studio many years later to help him record a song for the group Milli Vanilli. However, the group’s infamous lip-synching scandal and subsequent backlash soon caused them to break up.

Ray Horton would then go on to become the lead singer of “The Real Milli Vannilli”, a band represented by the true voices of the original music group. He was also joined by Gina Mohammed and other special guests including Icy Bro and Tammy T. Over two years, they completed three studio albums and eight different singles, some which managed to reach the top 20 on German music charts.

Other Partnerships and Successes

Horton would then go on to receive major critical acclaim and commercial success with the single “Remember the Time”, which he produced in collaboration with the rapper Nana Abrokwa in 1998. The following year, he released his first solo album “The First Time” which was a hit in most of Western Europe and Russia.

Since then, Horton has colloborated with many famous artists, including Julia Inglesias, Sarah Connor, the Backstreet Boys and Chris Rea. He appeared on The Voice of Germany as a judge and coach in 2012, where he continued to gain even more popularity and recognition; he now tours the world and entertains the masses to great success and enjoyment. His performances are always filled with explosive energy, passion and enthusiasm which spills over into the audience watching.
