Whether you’re a maniac for Mojitos or partial to a Pina Colada, a cocktail is a go-to classic to accompany a night out. At Hugo’s Terrace there’s something for everyone – from the Classics to the Sparkling, complete with In-House Classics and New Style Fusions. Hugo Chetcuti has shared a list of his top 5 favourites which he hopes everyone will enjoy as much as he does.

Aperol Spritz

Cool and refreshing with a citrusy tang, the Aperol Spritz is one of the most popular summer drinks. One of the most well-known sparkling cocktails, the Aperol Spritz a mixture of three shots of Prosecco, two shots of Aperol and a dash of soda water. All this is usually served in a wine glass and garnished with a slice of orange. The Aperol Spritz goes with any type of snacks and nibbles, from Mediterranean platters to a classic Charcuterie of assorted meats and cheeses. Whether it’s to chillax with friends on a weekend catch-up or to party till the early hours of the morn, it’s the perfect pick-me-up for any evening.

Bloody Mary

Served in a highball glass and embellished with a stick of celery, the Bloody Mary is said to be a bit of an aquired taste due to its unusual combination of savoury condiments and different spices, along with lemon or lime juice and black pepper. The recipe for a perfect Bloody Mary has long been a topic of heated debate; that said, the two must-have base ingredients are vodka and tomato juice. Hugo Chetcuti enjoys his with a fusion of lemon juice, Worscestershire sauce, basil, onion and garlic, sprinkled with basil, salt and pepper.

Manhattan

Whiskey lovers will enjoy this smooth combination of Bourbon, bitter and vermouth. It’s usually decorated with a cocktail cherry and served straight up without ice, strained into a cocktail glass. The Hugo Chetcuti Manhattan is a mix of Jim Beam, Martini Rosso and Angostura bitter, ideally paired with a meaty dish or platter to really allow the flavours of the drink to emerge and work in unison.

Mojito

You can’t go wrong with a classic Mojito. A huge favourite with cocktail fans, this fresh and minty drink also comes in different fruity flavours. The standard Mojito is a merge of club soda, White rum, fresh mint and muddled lime, sweetened with brown sugar and served with a good helping of crushed ice. Want to try something a bit different? Go for the passionfruit or strawberry versions – they’re sure to go down a treat if you’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth.

Wildboar

Hugo is proud to offer a selection of New Style Fusions to the cocktail menu – the Wildboar happens to be just one of them. So named for the salty flavour of bacon added in with drops of smoked essence, this is definitely one for the adventurous and those who are hankering to try something new. Bacardi Oakheart is blended with lime juice and caramel syrup to create something that is truly unique and original.
